A Letter from the President, Heidi Simpson-Sandoval
When I reflect on the value of this organization and the impact it has had on my own professional journey, three things immediately come to mind: connection, education, and growth.
Through my involvement with SoCalCGP, I have built meaningful relationships, expanded my knowledge, and developed as a charitable gift planning professional. Over the years, I have heard many longtime members share similar experiences. If you are new to SoCalCGP or new to the field of gift planning, welcome. You are joining an extraordinary community of professionals who are committed to advancing philanthropy and supporting one another along the way. I encourage you to build connections with colleagues, exchange ideas freely, seek out new perspectives, and embrace opportunities to learn. Most importantly, look for ways to contribute and serve. Some of the most rewarding experiences in this organization come from becoming actively involved. At the heart of SoCalCGP are the values that guide our work and define our community: Inclusion – Creating environments where all are welcomed, respected, supported, and valued. Community – Fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration among members and partners. Integrity – Acting with fairness, honesty, and openness in all dealings while adhering to the highest ethical standards. Education – Providing opportunities for professional development, learning, and growth in charitable gift planning. Leadership – Demonstrating initiative, innovation, and leadership in advancing our profession. These values are reflected in our programs, partnerships, and the way we engage with one another. They are more than words; they are the foundation of our Council and the reason our community continues to thrive. As SoCalCGP continues to serve a broad and diverse region, the Board remains committed to providing meaningful educational and networking opportunities throughout Southern California. This year, members can look forward to programs and events spanning Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire, and San Diego. We will continue offering content that is relevant to both philanthropy professionals and professional advisors, while also expanding access through virtual programming whenever possible. As we look ahead to the year before us, one thing is clear: community matters. In a rapidly changing environment, the relationships we build, the knowledge we share, and the support we provide one another are more important than ever. Thank you for your membership, your participation, and your commitment to our profession. SoCalCGP is strong because of the collective contributions of its members. I look forward to working alongside you as we continue to learn, grow, and advance the important work of charitable gift planning throughout Southern California.
