Morning Speaker

Speaker Name:Kevin Daehnke, Managing Partner, Daehnke Cruz Law Group, LLP

Program Title: Gift Acceptance of Toxic Assets

Program Description: Soil or groundwater contamination of property can be the single largest liability of a potential donor who owns a business or invests in real estate. That same property may also be their single largest asset. Most holders of contaminated sites do not adequately address these toxic liabilities in their business, estate, or charitable gift planning because they think they are left “holding the bag”. Most charitable organizations reject such donations out of hand.

This presentation will focus on how such toxic properties can be an important asset towards a donor’s philanthropic and financial goals. It will provide planned giving professionals with strategies for helping donors maximize the economic value of these properties and encouraging the acceptance of such gifts by their organizations without a corresponding increase in liability.

12:00 PM - 1:15 PM

Lunch Speaker

Speaker Name: Gregory A. Schupra, Vice President and Group Manager, Comerica Charitable Services Group

Program Title:"They Just Don't Get It . . .": A Coherent Approach to Building Your Planned Giving Program

Program Description: How do you reach target donor audiences in meaningful and lasting ways when their choices are multiplying, their attention spans are dwindling, and their trust has all but eroded? For those who work in charitable gift planning, the donor marketplace has never been more crowded, challenging, or contested. This session offers charitable gift planning specialists both a broad framework and specific strategies for successfully building a coherent strategy to attract gifts of accumulated wealth.
